display manager...
somebody can recommend a display manager(not gdm nor kdm)
does xdm can manage kde,gnome,xfce and most wm's? slim supports several DE/WM? i no there's a lot of dm's... just need some that accepts that i said... Last edited by vato; 1st September 2010 at 12:34 AM. |

If you are going to be running a single desktop I would go with xdm. It is simple and does not require alot of additional libaries
If you are going to be switching desktop environments gdm or kdm will accomplish out of the box. |

XDM can manage any WM, AFAIK the main difference is that with GDM or KDM you have a select box where you can switch between the installed window managers without modifying ~/.xsession.
The "short instruction" for using XDM is to setup your ~/.xsession as you would setup a ~/.xinitrc The FreeBSD handbook has a section on XDM: FreeBSD handbook 5.6 The X Display Manager

well...i installed gdm but kde doesn't show on menu just gnome and xfce...
