You can always use fixit CD
mount root and edit files

Finally got it working. Here's what I did:

1.) loaded new FS on USB drive (after I realized that the msdos FS wouldn't work with my restore), and ran dump

2.) booted new hardware with CD (kind of cheated and ran sysinstall), created FS on local harddrive, created mount points and wrote changes to disk

3.) Ran Fixit from Live CD and ran restore.

Aldis,
I received your response via email, but it doesn't seem to be posted on the site. You asked "what is the output?". Are you asking what commands I used for dump and restore?

never mind, i've opened post, cause i saw new reply, i read last one, and responded... later i discovered, that i was one page 1, while last reply was on page 2, so i deleted my post, because it useful after reading, real last post
