There's a couple threads about this on the -stable and/or -current mailing list. Search for "Asus eeePC 1000". If I remember correctly, everything except wireless and the webcam work.

1000H uses Attansic Technology L1E lan and as far as I know there is just some experimental support for L2 and no support at all for L1. I'm using a 900A (Intel Atom), same Lan but Atheros wifi (I have to use stable together with ath_hal from current). Asus 1000 != 1000H, Asus 900 != 900A and so on, it's a silly game but they are using different hardware setups with every revision.

To get FreeBSD on some EEE follow this howto,

http://bsdimp.blogspot.com/2007/10/b...86-images.html

I have got working HDA sound, graphics, standby, but I have some severe problems with my card reader. If you don't want to tinker a lot, take some Linux distro _at the moment_.

I've installed freeBSD 7.1-BETA2-i386 on my EEEPC 1000H,
but freeBSD cannot see any interfaces: ethernet and wireless.
knows someone howto solve this problem ?

If your netbook is using Atheros Wifi then you have to use ath_hal from current.

Checkout ath_hal from head,

svn checkout svn://svn.freebsd.org/base/head/sys/contrib/dev/ath/

and copy the ath-directory to /usr/src/sys/contrib/dev - you have to rebuild the kernel only.

1000H has a RALINK and it needs rt2860 driver (module).

That's the latest stuff for ral. I did read something on the mailinglists about a bad firmware for ral, maybe you should ask someone there.

The L2 support just went into RELENG_7 in the past few days. L1E support is, as far as I know, not in yet. If anyone's working on it, it's probably yongari, so you may want to see if he's made any posts to any of the related lists (stable, current, net, et al) about it.

There are patches available for the ale(4) driver, which supports the L1E and L2E chipsets. I don't know if they're just for -CURRENT, or for older releases as well.

The driver phoenix references will work under FreeBSD 7 for sure - yongari just posted on -questions saying so.

According to XP Device Manager my EEEPC 1000H has ethernet adapter: Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E

Another update from the -questions list - yongari just stated that one of the developers tested his ale driver (the one phoenix linked) on a eeepc 1000H and it worked. So there you go!

Please read the last few posts by phoenix and myself, they are talking about the relevant driver. You may also wish to visit the freebsd-questions mailing list archive.

According to the man page, the ale(4) driver is available for the Atheros chipset. Not sure about the RealTek.

I've installed freeBSD 8.0-CURRENT, but rt2860 seems to be not supported.
