Default can't start apache "httpd not running"

Hi everyone,
I have followed the guide provided by the freebsd handbook as well as freebsd made easy on install apache.

I am running apache 2.2.9 on freebsd 7.0

This is my httpd.conf, which I don't think has any error in it
Code:
#
# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2> for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "/var/log/foo_log"
# with ServerRoot set to "/usr/local" will be interpreted by the
# server as "/usr/local//var/log/foo_log".

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile directive
# at a local disk. If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for multiple
# httpd daemons, you will need to change at least LockFile and PidFile.
#
ServerRoot "/usr/local"

#
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
#
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
#
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen 80

#
# Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) Support
#
# To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you
# have to place corresponding `LoadModule' lines at this location so the
# directives contained in it are actually available _before_ they are used.
# Statically compiled modules (those listed by `httpd -l') do not need
# to be loaded here.
#
# Example:
# LoadModule foo_module modules/mod_foo.so
#
LoadModule authn_file_module libexec/apache22/mod_authn_file.so

My problem is that when I run apache,
Code:
[root@ /usr/home/disappearedng]# apachectl start
[root@ /usr/home/disappearedng]# apachectl restart
httpd not running, trying to start
it complains about httpd not running. When i double check,
Code:
[root@ /usr/home/disappearedng]# apachectl start
[root@ /usr/home/disappearedng]# ps -x | grep apache
26504 p0 R+ 0:00.00 grep apache
[root@ /usr/home/disappearedng]# ps -x | grep httpd
which confirms that httpd is indeed NOT running.

I have made sure that I have the following a
Code:
mysql_enable="YES"              #enable mysql
apache22_enable="YES"           #enable apache22
in my /etc/rc.conf.

I have even manually loaded kldload accf_http. (I then added it to my loader.conf)

I thought that my httpd conf might be messed up, so I ran
Code:
[root@ /usr/home/disappearedng]# apachectl configtest
Syntax OK
Why can't I connect or start httpd?

Thx

You should use:

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/apache22 start

or

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/apache22 forcestart

Those were warning and would not stop execution.

I don't know why
this is what I am getting

OH MY GOD!

I did a few google searches, and tried out a few risky moves.

I realize that the error in
Code:
[Mon Sep 22 14:36:59 2008] [alert] (EAI 8)hostname nor servname provided, or not known: mod_unique_id: unable to find IPv4 address of ""
implies that I have no host name, which is confirmed by the empty value returned when I do
Code:
hostname -s
hence I logged onto root and did a
Code:
hostname disappearedng.com
and started apache
127.0.0.1 returns IT WORKS!

BTW WHat is a hostname?
