Default dvb-t on FBSD?

For years now I've been frustrated in my wish to use FBSD as a PVR.

I tried MythTV on Ubuntu but gave up because i couldn't get it going. Even the guy giving advice didn't have it going - lol.

Eventually I just bought a purpose made PVR and forgot about he whole idea... until today:

I haven't got one and it isn't clear how the UK version works, but I suppose the interface it presents to the world is the same as the US version.

So (finally!) the question is 'Got one? - can you use it with FBSD?'

That's a very interesting product idea, It's a television tuner that is OS-independent..

So the answer to your original question appears to be: Yes, you can use it with FreeBSD.

That topic links to a thread containing a open source remote configuration program.. no drivers are required because it's connected via your local network.

The features are impressive, you can record and stream shows using VLC Media Player.. and probably other applications.

There is a tutorial explaining how to use it with VLC:

This is very promising. At present the units are very expensive in the UK and operation may differ due to the differing technologies involved, HOWEVER, for now it looks like the only answer to the question 'Freeview* on FreeBSD?'

I will be checking for developments in the future. Also someone should alert Torfinn Ingolfson as he turns up whenever I research dvb-t.

*Freeview = dbv-t in the UK.
