Described as sophisticated, computer espionage software sold outright on the open market.
NY Times

The article provides evidence of political use. No mention of corporate espionage but wide spread use would not surprise me.

Edit: The Gamma Group website states their products are for sale to National and State Intelligence Departments and Law Enforcement Agencies. It is not sold outright as I initially wrote.
