Default bwn/bwi drivers with Broadcom BCM4318

Any experiences of the bwn/bwi drivers with Broadcom BCM4318 based PCI wireless g NIC?

Have been fiddling with this for two days and have searched and read everything I could find.

I have been using bwi, but the connection is very unreliable (not in front of the box now, but can post the output which appears in tty in several hours).

I decided to try bwn as it uses a newer firmware (the 4.x firmware which I've used under GNU/Linux with no problems - I had problems with the earlier 3.x firmware so thought it might be related).

After 4 hours yesterday I figured out how to get bwn to load the firmware (from /boot/loader.conf - when it tries to load the firmware itself, it fails) - rebooted and the connection finally came up - except bwn is even worse for disconnections - in fact it's unusable in my case. I had to switch back to bwi.

I want to avoid messing with ndisgen and windows blobs, so if anyone has any experience of this or can point me in the right direction - much appreciated.

Thanks
