Default BWI on NetBSD

Hi all,

I'm running NetBSD 7 RC1. I can't get my wifi card to work (ifconfig doesn't show it). Here is the dmesg output:

Code:
ugen0: Broadcom Corp BCM43142A0, rev 2.00/1.12, addr 3
ugen0: Broadcom Corp BCM43142A0, rev 2.00/1.12, addr 3
It's a built-in wifi card. I'm puzzled to see it as a ugen0 device. I was assuming to see something like bwi instead of ugen0. In a desperate attempt, I installed the bwi firmware as suggested by man bwi. To no help.

Any idea how to continue?

I believe some laptop wifi adapters are connected via internal USB, but not sure.

Your device is certainly not supported by bwi(4).

And the FreeBSD bwn(4) driver, which has not been ported to NetBSD or OpenBSD, does not support it either.

Perhaps get a supported wifi adaptor (or replace the internal card if possible*). If you opt for this - avoid Broadcom like the plague and thoroughly check that you're choosing supported hardware before buying.

*if it is a laptop some vendors only allow replacement with specific hardware. So be sure to research thoroughly.
