Default speed pkg_add netbsd vs. freebsd

I was just wondering if there are some big differences in how pkg_add retrieves the files in netbsd compared to freebsd.
The reason is I'm wondering is because it seems like it takes forever to get the files with netbsd. I probably do not mean transfer rate, since I use the same mirror.

Are the files in netbsd broken down and written to /var/tmp/pkg.10220e etc and then merged. What is going on?

Best answer you will get comparing freebsd and netbsd pkg_add source.
I know that pkg_add on FreeBSD decompress package files while downloading (through pipe I guess ....)

You have a problem with NetBSD mirrors not with their packaging system.
Unfortunately NetBSD is well known for that.

Hehe, I'm not that curious (which is fortunate since I would probably not understand how to do it)
