Default No 30 second wait for viewing new posts

I just returned from a San Francisco vacation; after being away from daemonforums for a week it finally occurred to me this morning why it is so much easier (for me) to navigate here than on the old forum: I use the 'New Posts' function a lot, and I was constantly being forced to wait for a 30 second period to expire at the old forum.

Not everyone navigates a forum the same way, obviously, but that simple usability change has made this experience a lot more pleasant.

I think you know it comes with a reason. New post query is intensive for the server, thats why each query is only allowed every half a min.

Check out vBISpy, an AJAX real-time feed of new posts/threads:

There is one thing that annoys me with this forum software, (When compared with phpbb etc..) it's the "new post" indicator image on each forum subsection.

Even after you read every new post, it remains as it is until you go back into the section and refresh the page.

But, I tolerate it... *sigh*

I completely agree. This is a nuisance, but I am not sure how to fix it.

While viewing the sub-forum, in the upper-right corner, click on Forum Tools --> Mark This Forum Read.

That's more of a workaround, but the same thing can be done by refreshing in the sub-forum.
