Goodbye BSD forum

i am going to miss that site so so much

The entire cast cried when the seasons were ove
and the show ended

Also i waited to long not to be called a port monkey
and finally i am Hot Sysinstaller

And on this new site i am just a newbie and 0 posts
Is there anyway all that content and our titles can be moved as well.

Default hi

But this site is too new for anyone to become
a disk solder,Shell Scout,or port guard?

or any other title but a new user lol
Unless you are all Sub Moderators,

Personally i found no reason to run from the other forum
i am not suer why everyone did all because of a spammer.
Besides i hate spam never cared for the taste of it.

But Why run from your problems?

Things like that can happen anywhere.

i always used te BSD Forum as a form of refrence to questions
i have asked in the past

Yes i am Guilty and have copied and kept the content
of my own subscriptions
so that i may be able to Look up something if i needed to.

Closed Locked topics good way to avoid the Truth?

This forum has active Administrators who don't disappear, make empty promises, or leave other people to clean up their crap.

So no, it can't happen anywhere.

hi

Oh i see.

i did not understand at first.

So i am to assume then that the Admins of the BSD Forum
that people feel did not do their job correctly were left behind.
to stay there or delete their forum?

And if so then What is he going to do with that forum?
Did everyone take a vote to leave him or something.

i really never knew anything about the site being spammed
i never noticed any avertisements at all.

i Ran a forum once and its not really that difficult to adjust moderators
and kick people out that were spamming the Forum.

i do not see why he never bothered to do something about the problem
i am not even sure i know who he is.

The one and only administrator of BSDForums is called "admin." In effect, he does not exist! The administrator of BSDForums has not logged into the forums for years. Of course it is easy to ban users and clean up spam, but not if there is no one with the power to do it! The only active moderators on BSDForums did not have the ability to delete or ban users! The reason you never saw spam was because those two moderators, J65nko and phoenix, were doing an excellent, excellent job of removing all of the spam posts. However, this was becoming an extremely difficult task so they simply had to stop. No one wants a help forum to become a full time job. This is why we had to move here. BSDForums is on a one way course to being absolutely useless to everybody.

We will not transfer titles from BSDForums. However, DaemonForums has not yet decided what its ranking system will be. Go here and vote for the ranks that you want DaemonForums to use.

No one knows who he is really. No one in the world knows why he does nothing about it. Members from BSDForums have done everything they can to attempt to get him to do something about the issue, but nothing (Including phone calls, emails, and faxes) worked.

Hello to you, Heatherval! I remember your posts and helping you back on "that other forum". I think you will find that this forum is of a much higher quality... as stated above, the admins here actually do something.

No problem. It might actually be best if we create a sticky thread in the Announcements sections that explains why people are moving from BSDForums to DaemonForums. That will help prevent other confused threads like this one.

Making a message "sticky" at BSDForums only ensures that it remains high in the list of messages sorted by date. It does not ensure that it is always the first message displayed on the forum's homepage. Note there are already several "sticky" messages explaining why BSDForums has been abandoned.

The spammers have already figured this out too, as they are now posting to the Suggestings, Feedback, Comments section as well.

To make sure that a message title is viewable from the forum's homepage would require intervention by the Admin which simply adds to the list of reasons why BSDForums was abandoned in the first place.

BSDForums is what it is. No more. No less.

I think kienjakenobi was talking about a sticky thread on DaemonForums.

I, for one, would rather leave BSDForums in the past and focus on the future...
