Default MBR GPT hybrid partitioning

I found this reference to MBR GPT hybrid partitioning:Hybrid MBRs: The Good, the Bad, and the So Ugly You'll Tear Your Eyes Out

Has anyone tried this and/or could he/she share some experience?

GPT does have one glaring problem, though: compatibility. Some OSes, particularly older ones, have limited or no GPT support.
I may be missing something important here, but FreeBSD supports GPT for i386 and amd64 since 7.0.
And installing something older than 7.4 is looking for trouble anyway.

Unless there are machines/BIOSs that don't support booting off GPT? But isn't GPT compatible with MBR since it has a "legacy" MBR in block 0?

I intend to dual-boot FreeBSD with an already existing OpenBSD partition of 25GB. The remainder of the 120 GB disk is for FreeBSD.
AFAIK OpenBSD on i386 does not boot from GPT.
