Default X as a security risk .. how wnd when ?

Hi BSD Hackers !

I recall I've read somewhere that enabling X while not using it is a security risk ..

I'd be thankful if you could clarify this to me ..
and if I choose to run X andafterwards don't startx nor xinit .. while the allow_aperture is still being 2 .. is this a security risk ? will it continue to be if I changed the value ?
Thank you

Please read xf86(4), security implications are described under ACCESS CONTROLS and aperture setting 2. Be sure to read the sentence regarding access to the driver.

Since you've asked about changing the aperture setting... you can't. Note the reference to the security level of the system when the sysctl can be changed. If that is not clear, be sure to read securelevel(7), mentioned in the SEE ALSO section of xf86(4).

And, since I'm adding additional comments, be sure to read the BUGS section of xf86(4), too.
