Laptop: "Set It & Forget It" ?
I bought an old ThinkPad. It will mainly be for ssh/tmux, to administer my media server from bed. I decided on this instead of paying for some "ssh app" on my iPad.
Is there anything wrong with installing a release build of OpenBSD, and leaving it on there indefinitely? I want to just forget about it. No updating or anything. I may or may not take this laptop anywhere else besides my room. But there is the possibility... |

It's up to you if you want to take that risk. I still have both a Windows 95 and a DOS 6.22 machine but they are never connected to the network. If the machine never leaves your subnet, it's possible.
That being said, there's no real reason NOT to upgrade. It's free, it only takes a few minutes, and more likely than not nothing user-facing will change. |
