It looks like you might have a failing USB stick.

Per Intel, the N435 CPU is 64-bit capable, so therefore you should be installing OpenBSD/amd64. OpenBSD/i386 should only be used with CPUs that are restricted to 32-bit.

For installation from USB, I recommend you use the amd64 install71.img to have all kernels and filesets available on the installation disk. Booting from a USB stick created with miniroot71.img requires installing kernels and filesets from the network.
