I've already got OpenBSD 6.2 tricked out the way I want it using cwm, conky, xterm, seamonkey, Emacs, claws-mail, sct (a screen temperature tool you can use instead of redshift), gimp, inkscape, and quodlibet, but this is an excellent guide to configuring OpenBSD for desktop use. If I was completely new to Unix I would find this an invaluable resource.
