The entire thread is an interesting and amusing read. It does show how people are willing, even eager, to adopt cute but unnecessary technology without understanding the wider implications.

I do not have access to Twitter, so I shall assume the link is funny and laugh along.
Or maybe change my signature.

Ah well, you're not missing *too* much ;-) Twitter is 50% people pissing in the wind, 40% shrieking, and 10% mildly funny. Scientific analysis has confirmed this.

Twitter has some bright spots:

BloomCounty

If you scroll through far enough you will even find a gold plated toilet.

A non-lengthy must-read.

Agreed. I had a twitter account; I don't miss it.
The only social media I use now is FB. I hate myself a little for using it. Heh.

Is there a way to avoid using smartphone if you are required to run an app for virus tracking? Someone told me to use Lineage OS instead of Android, I haven't yet looked it up.

If you simply do not like smartphones, I cannot answer the question.

If however the purpose of not using a smartphone is to avoid being tracked, using a telephone tracking application would defeat the purpose. I have seen those applications in China. They are useless for tracking the "killer" cold virus. Ostensibly they "could" be used to track down people suspected of having come into contact with someone else who was infected, but their real purpose is to simply track people, and whom they associate with. Whether the application is on a smartphone or other device would not make a difference.

Almost .always. convenience results in degradation of security, whereas simplicity usually enhances it..........................
