Is this the right way to disassemble the Thinkpad? The thermal paste applying part doesn't look right. |

I would definitely not use alcohol laced with glycerine and wintergreen, and...I don't think you're supposed to use a hammer!
This video looks more reliable: How To: Take apart and repair Lenovo x220t / x230t The service manuals for these machines are also online. Lenovo's term is Hardware Maintenance Manual. A search for thinkpad x220t service manual turned up the manual for my laptop. Substitute your model for 'x220t'.If that doesn't work, you might want to try this third-party archive: Hardware Maintenance Manuals - ThinkPad (download links) Index of /support/hmm/hmm_pdf (files). The hardware manual for the X220 explains the disassembly steps and gives specific instructions on the amount of thermal paste to use. |
