OpenBSD randomly wedging
I've been running OpenBSD 4.4 on an Atom N330, in the capacity of a firewall/OSPF router.
I recently upgraded (clean install) to OpenBSD 4.7 and with a virtually identical configuration, I'm experiencing frequent 'wedges', wherein the entire box becomes unresponsive to network/console/etc but recovers without user intervention after an arbitrary period of time. Not having the time to investigate further, I downgraded to 4.6 and the problem disappeared. Anyone seen anything like this? Or, any idea what kind of instrumentation I could setup that might shed some light as to which device/process is causing this? dmesg follows: OpenBSD 4.6 (GENERIC.MP) #89: Thu Jul 9 21:32:39 MDT 2009 deraadt@i386.openbsd.org:/usr/src/sy...ile/GENERIC.MP RTC BIOS diagnostic error 80<clock_battery> cpu0: Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU 330 @ 1.60GHz ("GenuineIntel" 686-class) 1.60 GHz cpu0: FPU,V86,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,APIC,SEP,MTRR,P GE,MCA,CMOV,PAT,CFLUSH,DS,ACPI,MMX,FXSR,SSE,SSE2,S S,HTT,TM,SBF,SSE3,MWAIT,DS-CPL,TM2,CX16,xTPR real mem = 1061863424 (1012MB) avail mem = 1017929728 (970MB) RTC BIOS diagnostic error 80<clock_battery> mainbus0 at root bios0 at mainbus0: AT/286+ BIOS, date 07/31/08, SMBIOS rev. 2.4 @ 0xe3590 (23 entries) bios0: vendor Intel Corp. version "LF94510J.86A.0099.2008.0731.0303" date 07/31/2008 bios0: Intel Corporation D945GCLF2 acpi0 at bios0: rev 0 acpi0: tables DSDT FACP APIC WDDT MCFG ASF! I think your system will support the amd64 platform.
I am running 4.7/amd64 on mine without issues (per Jggimi's post that follows mine is patched to stable) Quote:
