Default [6.9] smartctl: smart status not supported

Hi,

on my host, I've two disks, and I installed smartmontools.

Daily, I check smart status.

Where the native tools atactl "said":
Code:
No SMART threshold exceeded
the command "smartctl -H /dev/sdxc" (where x is the number of the disk):
Code:
SMART Status not supported: Incomplete response, ATA output registers missing
SMART overall-health self-assessment test result: PASSED
Warning: This result is based on an Attribute check.
(same result for both disks)

I attempt:
Code:
$ doas smartctl -a /dev/sd0c
smartctl 7.1 2019-12-30 r5022 [x86_64-unknown-openbsd6.9] (local build)

Into the information section, smart support is available and enabled, and on the smart data section, smart support is not supported. Weird!
How it's possible‽

Per the smartctl(8) man page regarding -H:
Quote:
The return value of this ATA command may be unknown due to limitations or bugs in some layer (e.g. RAID controller or USB bridge firmware) between disk and operating system.
