Raspberry Pi-like Box That Runs OpenBSD?
I had a Soekris at one point and really liked it as a small little device to hack on.
I was thinking of getting another one, though I've looked with envy at the Raspberry Pi. The Pi is $35...Soekris is $150-200. I see PC Engines makes some Alix boards....more like $100-125 for the cheapest. Anyone else I should look at? I don't have any firm requirements...network, serial console is fine, USB is nice, and some kind of storage (preferably not soldered on), and supported by OpenBSD. Just enjoyed having a small little box to play with. |

Personally, I have a number of Alix systems which are usually single purposed -- ntpd(8), tftpd(1), Git, & soon, access point. More or less cheap, power efficient, & small form factor. They don't have high powered processors, but they are certainly good enough for home use. Doing PXE installs (see Section 6.10 of the FAQ...) makes the installation process quite simple. Updating via USB is nearly as simple as on a laptop or desktop system (outside of the console cable requirement...). |

Support for the Raspberry Pi on OpenBSD has been discussed before on this site:
http://www.daemonforums.org/showthre...ight=raspberry The chances of the project developers supporting it on OpenBSD are slim to none. |

The Raspberry Pi is not really open. IMHO the Beagle line of boards is much better in that respect. Some Beagle references:
