Default /etc/hostname.interface

I am having a bit of an issue trying to determine which device from my "dmesg.boot" file is the item to create a
hostname.interface, as I am right now unable to create one that works.
I do see the motorola Android phone entry near the end of the file but ???????
In addition, when i do identify that interface.***** which entry is appropriate to place in that file init.autoconf or
dhcp.
I also have an X issue where startx as non root displays errors, however if i can get the interface problem resolved
i can move on to the X issue. All else appears to be ok for a fresh 7.2 install.

Since I haven't uploaded a file lately please forgive the dmesg.boot copy/paste

Shep
I think bge0 is one of two of the ethernet cards ?
whereas i am looking for a typical urndis or urndis0 identifier for my Android phone

Sorry, should have read closer. bge0 and bge1 are your ethernet interfaces.
There is an OpenBSD man page, urndis(4), that indicates OpenBSD support for usb tethering but the interface is not recognized.

I suspect this is on the phones side. On my rooted TCL A30 (Mediatek Helio P22 SoC), there are a number of usb settings: charging, usb host, usb client, data transfer mode etc. When I used adb commands to update firmware/install apk's, I had to go into developer mode (On TCL tap the build # ~7x to become a developer. Then ../system to enable usb debugging.

Then, when I plugin the usb port, and android notification tells me it is in usb debugging.

I also had a forum search hit:
https://daemonforums.org/showthread.php?t=10238
Web hit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/openbsd/com...thering_issue/

Default usb teathering T-320

No worries, If you have followed my discussion in Off-Topic (data back-up schemes) you will see I probably will discontinue use of that machine. It is simply easier to use the back-up suggestions by those in the know or just continue using cd or usb backup. The T-320 would make a great machine if there was a need here. I was simply curious if it would teather as my other machines due with my Andriod device. It works very well now and in the past with sftp/ssh use with my other machines. Therefore working or researching this issue is "not worth it". After all who use's a quality server (which was back in the day) using USB Android Teathering?) I was simply curious and now its not needed. The system does work as expected with linux distro's without issue including X. If you don't care about troubleshooting X or teathering its the ticket for OpenBSD.

Anyway, otherwise its a fantastic machine with 3 SATA drives etc. etc. etc.....Network cards and all work fine.
Anyone in the DFW area USA are welcome to it. Free. (pm for details)

Code:
bge0: flags=808843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,AUTOCONF4> mtu 1500
	lladdr f8:bc:12:54:f6:34
	index 1 priority 0 llprio 3
	media: Ethernet autoselect (none)
	status: no carrier
bge1: flags=808843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,AUTOCONF4> mtu 1500
	lladdr f8:bc:12:54:f6:36
	index 2 priority 0 llprio 3
	groups: egress
	media: Ethernet autoselect (100baseTX full-duplex,rxpause,txpause)
	status: active
	inet 192.168.10.102 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.10.255
bge0 is not connected to a network cable while bge1 is, and even has been configured with an IP address.

Yes J65nk0
There are two ethernet cards, they work fine for hard wired ethernet connections.
I have used them in ssh/sftp lan connections within my office in the past. It would be fine in most server uses such as when I hosted my own sites with a static i.p. in a wan/lan setup. (See discussion in Off-Topic concerning back-up methods)
(done with that as my business is on line and my office machines talk nicely to each other) The machine sadly is simply not needed, taking up space that someone might use in their situation. I was just curious as to if it was capable of recognizing an Android Ph. , as pointless as it is I don't want to waste any more time from those in the know, so that they/you can help others with real issues.

I have just tested urndis(4) with Android: First, attaching via USB cable:
Code:
umodem0 at uhub0 port 1 configuration 1 interface 1 "SAMSUNG SAMSUNG_Android" rev 2.10/c.00 addr 4
umodem0: data interface 2, has no CM over data, has no break
umodem0: status change notification available
ucom0 at umodem0
ugen1 at uhub0 port 1 configuration 1 "SAMSUNG SAMSUNG_Android" rev 2.10/c.00 addr 4
Second, setting the phone to activate USB Tethering:
Code:
ucom0 detached
umodem0 detached
ugen1 detached
urndis0 at uhub0 port 1 configuration 1 interface 0 "SAMSUNG SAMSUNG_Android" rev 2.10/c.00 addr 4
urndis0: using RNDIS, address 02:34:0d:0c:08:06
Third, enable autoconfiguration of urndis0 to use DHCP:
Code:
# ifconfig urndis0 inet autoconf
$ ifconfig urndis
urndis0: flags=808843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,AUTOCONF4> mtu 1500
        lladdr 02:34:0d:0c:08:06
        index 11 priority 0 llprio 3
        groups: egress
        inet 192.168.197.93 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.197.255
