Default [Bug Hunting] ALC892 audio stuck

Hi, right now I have a workstation with Ryzen 7 3800x, B550 Motherboard and a audio codec Realtek ALC892.

From my first installation the only issue with OpenBSD is audio random stuck, a old problem with Realtek Audio and Ryzen PC not solved.

In my hunting a test two awful patch in azalia_codec.c and azalia.c, source code files, and the problem remain but a sligth improvement.

The audio stuck without patch, take place in few minutes (and generally less a hour playing music), but with patch, I have now 22 hours continous playing music without problem but finally, the audio stuck again.

This is a not a definitive solution but is a improvement...my intention is resolve problem but I need help, ideas and testing.

The patchs in this pastebin https://pastebin.com/nxdAuYQx

Hello and welcome!

We are a small community, and there might not be anyone here with the exact same hardware who could assist you with reviewing your kernel patch and help you to determine the root cause of the problem.

A much larger audience of OpenBSD users and developers follow the misc@ mailing list. If you don't get help at this forum after a few days, I recommend reaching out to misc@ with this problem.

You might also consider sending your patch to the tech@ mailing list instead of to misc@. It is a smaller group of OpenBSD users -- primarily developers -- and is used to discuss proposed patches to the OS.

---

The OpenBSD website says of these two lists:
misc@ - "User questions and answers, general questions. This is the most active list. Please read the FAQ and the installation documents, and see how to report a problem before posting."

tech@ - "Discussion of technical topics for OpenBSD developers and advanced users. This is not a "tech support" forum — do not use it as such. OpenBSD developers will often make patches to implement new features and other important changes available for public testing through this list."

Hi, @jggimi

I send the first patch to @tech maillist, recive a first OK, but Ratchov explain that first patch maybe not solved the problem...and yes, he is right, the first patch delayed problem a little but remain.

The second patch is really a way for test audio hardware in other signaling conditions, the good of this is that problem is delayed very much more in appear, but same, this not resolved the origin of bug.

Ideas are very helpful in this case, I can spend time searching bug, but ideas maybe very util in this case for search a definitive solution.

Edit: I send info to @misc maillist...thank for suggerencie.
