Start problem after the installation of OpenBSD 4.6

While on my old computer since OpenBSD 4.3 i haven't problem, on the other computer more recent (dual-core) even now with the last release 4.6 after the installation i can't start the system.
Yes I have read the:
2 - Getting to know OpenBSD
2.4 - Reporting Bugs
but the problem is that i can write anything on the console, the system is totally freeze.
In summary it stop before finish to run the system.

If it's possible i would like install openbsd while in the worst scenario i think perhaps i will install freebsd or eventually netbsd.
I have a separate small hdd so i could avoid any eventual problem during the installation.

Note:
In the more old pc (single core) i use the 32 bit version while on the more "recent" pc (dual core) i would like use the 64 bit version.

On the pc where openbsd function (in this moment i'm on openbsd) i have tried to see a multi-card reader pen usb and it's works without problem.

In this case you have nothing to lose, so try to install a snapshot.

If that freezes too you surely have a reason to complain to the developers.

One COMMON problem is the ACPI interpretation by hardware. You can disable ACPI, and then see if the OS will boot.

At the "boot>" prompt, use: boot -c, then at the UKC> prompts use disable acpi followed by quit.

Now i have tried:
boot -c
but after that the pc freeze as initially so i can't write disable acpi.

Next time i will use BSDanywhere (the openbsd livecd) so i can known immediately if finally this system is recognized well by OpenBSD.

I prefer avoid snapshot.

Both bsdanywhere and my own live media (link below) are 4.6-release. You will likely waste your time, unless you installed improperly.

A snapshot of -current would be what is being developed to become, eventually, 4.7.

Yes i known that they are the same release now, but next time i will use an openbsd live release so i can avoid to install an OS and only after the installation known that don't work.

Have you successfully booted any of the livecd's? considering they are 4.6 they _should_ work the same, perhaps something within the BIOS of your laptop needs changing? or reset defaults? sometimes may get you booting far enough to config the kernel?

It's a simply desktop that was bought a few years ago ("certified" full functionally from Ubuntu 7.04 is a remember well).
Sincerely i last any hope that that compuer could function with an BSD OS (in the meantime i have tried even NetBSD and FreeBSD without success) while function well on Linux distro and OpenSolaris.

My bad, i for some reason assumed you were using a laptop when mention of ACPI/APM came up (Perhaps i should read more carefully)

I do not think i have seen any machine that did not handle any of the BSD's, perhaps there is something wrong that that machine? Which linux distro's have you had on it recently that are working properly?

Have you tried PCBSD or DragonFly? (if you don't mind d/ling and have disc's to spare), probably a better question would be; When was the last time it was running any operating system properly? and what operating system was it?

Yes i have tried even PcBSD (it use a precedence release of FreeBSD) with the same result of NetBSD, in summary i can't procede at all even during the installation.

I haven't tried DragonFly.

I put my dmesg obtain using Debian 5.

Note:
I had that the only Linux distro that don't function on this system was CentOS 5.1 but i haven't tried more recent release too see if now go or not.

Before i resuggest resetting the BIOS (or updateing it? you said a few years old?), IN BOLD (it really has helped me), would you please list some specs? i find it VERY ODD that you cannot get ANY BSD's booted on it? confuddlment makes me want to know more, don't lose hope man BSD's are a gift to us all ...
