Using /etc/hosts to block sites
I am told that I can use /etc/hosts to block certain sites.
I edit /etc/hosts and add 127.0.0.1 some_site.com. Being both paranoid and neurotic I also add 0.0.0.0 some_site.com just to be sure. Save file, reboot, open browser and there is some_site.com same as it ever was. What am I doing wrong or not understanding and could the fact that I use a VPN have anything to do with it? Thanks |
