No discussion of changing the base forum software has taken place amongst the administrative staff.

I agree on that. vBulletin might be proprietary, but they did a bang up job on the interface.

The big issue is that this vbulletin version is very old and most likely the 3.x branch is unmaintained by the original developers (vbulletin is at version 5.x now). I would, cautiously suggest at least re-think of the forum software if it can be ported over without data loss.

Funding is an issue, & currently hosting is being re-evaluated. Changing the underlying software is very low on the list of priorities at this time.
