Best way to upgrade from -release to snapshot

I would like to upgrade my 4.5-release installation to a snapshot, I looked at the faq, but I'm not 100% what the best method is.

Can I just download the install46 ISO file, boot from that, and use the Upgrade option (Rather than install)? Does this method work well for snapshots too or only from release to release?

Does this method also address these issues (Such as ``2009/05/20 - new user and group for rpc.rwalld'' for example):

Or do they need to be executed manually?

Snapshots are 4.6-CURRENT + uncommitted developer patches that need testing, thus they are snapshots of what will eventually be 4.7.. not 4.6.

So it isn't guaranteed that you'll be able to upgrade from 4.5 to a -CURRENT snapshot, it's probably best to reinstall fresh and use backups.

You *can* conduct a binary upgrade from -release to -current, but ... you have to be careful of all architectural changes in the "Following -current" FAQ; many of these will be handled automagically by sysmerge(8), but you'll need to go through them one-by-one and understand the implications; as some may require manual steps before or after. As BSDfan recommends; a fresh install is an acceptable alternative.

Carpetsmoker, I wanted to do what you're asking, but finally just downloaded a snapshot and did fresh install to play with and test.
I'm extremely happy with what I have and I haven't encountered any problems at all, and I downloaded an enormous amount of packages.

I just reinstalled, didn't have that much on the system yet anyway.
