Microsoft has developed its own Linux.
Microsoft has developed its own Linux. Repeat.
Microsoft has developed its own Linux Redmond reveals Azure Cloud Switch, its in-house software-defined networking OS Sitting down? Nothing in your mouth? Microsoft has developed its own Linux distribution. And Azure runs it to do networking. Redmond's revealed that it's built something called Azure Cloud Switch (ACS), describing it as “a cross-platform modular operating system for data center networking built on Linux” and “our foray into building our own software for running network devices like switches.” http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/09...its_own_linux/

It was leaked a long time ago that they used Linux servers in house. They just make money out of the gullible.

^ Nice necrobump Garry
These days Microsoft has their "Linux Subsystem for Windows 10" that allows for the installation of an entire GNU/Linux userland within Win10: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/com.../install_guide I even had KornShell running in it a while ago... |

Thanks, I did notice it was old, but wanted to comment,... I am sure there are soft ware developers, that all though they prefer using a good OS, that is reliable, well, every body needs
to make a living, so it makes sense that some might be writing programs for Windows, and MS. ========= edit ========== I did see some where, don't have the link handy, but apparently MS has made donations to OpenBsd, as well as Linux, I think it is a "publicity" gimmick for them,(MS), to say "Hey look at us, we are supporting these",... P.S.and good to see you

I think Microsoft should be applauded for donating, there are _many_ commercial entities for which OpenBSD is a critical part of their IT infrastructure who make no contributions at all, sadly. Here is your link: http://www.openbsdfoundation.org/contributors.html MS attained the "Silver" donation standard which equates to $10,000 to $25,000 My only donation to the project has been the purchase of a(n awesome) T-shirt so I am in no position to criticise the Redmond crew

^ Here's another one — Microsoft are gleefully pushing the availability of OpenBSD guests in their Azure Cloud framework:
