Microsoft has developed its own Linux distribution. And Azure runs it to do networking.

Redmond's revealed that it's built something called Azure Cloud Switch (ACS), describing it as “a cross-platform modular operating system for data center networking built on Linux” and “our foray into building our own software for running network devices like switches.”

In this case, I respectfully agree with Oko. (In the last thread where he requested this, I respectfully disagreed.)

As for the deleting of posts in thread, unless disk space is an issue, I don't think it will matter very much one way or the other, and the mslinux link is still a bit amusing after all these years,

Probably they do, considering that their products are pretty much useless, they need to
use something that works to do the programming,writeing,compiling, etc.

These days Microsoft has their "Linux Subsystem for Windows 10" that allows for the installation of an entire GNU/Linux userland within Win10:

Thanks, I did notice it was old, but wanted to comment,... I am sure there are soft ware developers, that all though they prefer using a good OS, that is reliable, well, every body needs
to make a living, so it makes sense that some might be writing programs for Windows, and MS.

to OpenBsd, as well as Linux, I think it is a "publicity" gimmick for them,(MS), to say "Hey look at us, we are supporting these",...

I think that is a rather disingenuous viewpoint — Microsoft have donated significant amounts of money to the OpenBSD project in recognition of the fact that they are now using OpenBSD software in Windows 10 and those bugs won't fix themselves.

I think Microsoft should be applauded for donating, there are _many_ commercial entities for which OpenBSD is a critical part of their IT infrastructure who make no contributions at all, sadly.

My only donation to the project has been the purchase of a(n awesome) T-shirt so I am in no position to criticise the Redmond crew
