I'd prefer to see GitHub and GitLab going postal to force everyone to think about alternatives. They already have created a too strong locked in syndrome. It's time to regain control.

Gitlab is using google-infrastructure. IMO github/gitlab microsoft/google are basically the same (one exception is if you self-host gitlab though). Codeberg and notabug seem to be alternatives. There are probably some more, ForgeFed is coming.
