Default X-Window style copy&paste in MS Windows?

I would like to use X-Windows style copy&paste (select to copy, middle mouse to paste) in MS Windows, does anyone happen to know how to do something like this?

Yeah, I'd like that too.

Another thing I really miss is the maximize windows vertically capability (stupid widescreen monitors ). I did find a third party tool (a very old probably unmaintained version) but I don't know if this is possible in Windows itself.

There's an X-Window Mouse powertoy available. It gives you a bunch of options to make the mouse work more like the mouse in X. Can't remember all the options, though, as I uninstalled it after trying it way back in the early XP days.

Search around the microsoft website.

Powertoys for XP are here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

But nothing about X-Window mouse ... I searched the Microsoft website, but can't find anything else ...

I haven't seen that part of Powertoys, but I've used the focus follows mouse rather than focus follows click. It does not really work that well, at least for me. I'll look for the mouse click, but I don't remember that being what this tool was about.

From http://www.aumha.org/a/powertoy.php

Quote:
X-Mouse - This is built into the current versions of TweakUI (including TweakUI XP) on the Mouse tab. These controls in TweakUI work perfectly for me on Windows 98, ME, and XP. You do not need to use the old X-Mouse PowerToy (xmouse.exe) on Win98/ME/XP. However, the Win95 version is apparently safe, at least in Win95/98, because MS says, right in TweakUI ver. 1.33, that if this setting item is not available, use the Win95 X-Mouse PowerToy. Since the Win95 version has more options and functionality, some people have chosen to use it in Win98, though others have found that it only works intermittently and, therefore, prefer the TweakUI implementation. (I have not tested the old X-Mouse PowerToy in Win XP, and therefore do not recommend it. Use the controls in TweakUI XP.)
There is a X-Mouse section in TweakUI, but all you can do is set ``activation follows mouse'', nothing about copy&pasting.

Hmm, damn, that sucks. I'm out of suggestions, then. Sorry.

Carpetsmoker,

I am really disappointed. The full name of X is X Window System, not X-Windows

I did some more searching and came up with:
True X Mouse

It's not perfect, for example can no longer use the middle mouse button in Opera to open links as a tab and close tabs, it also lacks some configurability, but the advantages are greater than the disadvantages so far ...

In combination with Dexpot I now almost have a decent Window manager on MS Windows ...

Another tool I came accross:
Cool Mouse

Could not get it to work though, and it's not free (30 day trial, 25USD for full version).
