multi boot
hi,
I am trying to make a multi boot system for my laptop (i386 lenovo) I use gparted to split my hard drive, in boot 1 I left 8192 mo for the multiboot manager, in 2 I put openbsd, In 3 I want to put Net BSD 7.1 but it's been a long time since I have not practiced NetBSD my memories are no longer relevant every time I boot my cdrom it asks me 1 / "root device 'default cd0c" Then it asks me 2 / "dump device 'default cd0b" then enin it requests 3 / "file system' default generic '", someone can refresh my skills on what to put in it's three cases? Regards Philippe |

There is an easier way to get NetBSD/OpenBSD dual boot.
Install NetBSD and at this step allocate MBR partition a: to NetBSD. Add a Bootmenu entry signifying that it is "NetBSD". The use one of the remaining MBR partitions for OpenBSD. Be sure to specify the partition type as OpenBSD (A6) and add an "OpenBSD" Bootmenu entry. After you complete the NetBSD installation, install OpenBSD to the OpenBSD partition. If all went well, on boot select 1 for NetBSD or 2 to boot OpenBSD |

Just by partitioning OpenBSD I declared the second partition in (A9) for NetBSD, it should recognize it!
Moreover I use other management system than that of NetBSD. On the computer on which I am writing you I have 5 operating system! I just want to know how mounted the target partition of NetBSD: Wda or wdc, and cd0b for cdrom ?? |

OpenBSD's default bootloader does not support multiboot. Some users install sysutils/grub but given that you have 5 OS installed you must be using an alternative boot loader.
The command to mount a file system when running NetBSD is mount(8) A fstab entry will mount the file system on each boot. fstab(5) He is a NetBSD wiki on Mounting ffs partitions |
