freeBSD not recognizing IDE HDD

I'm a new freeBSD user. Here's my setup that I need to work:

Intel DX48BT2 motherboard (intel x48 chipset)
500gb Seagate SATA drive (Windows Server 2008 only)
200gb Maxtor IDE drive (what I want to install to, currently has Linux)
2x160gb USB 2.0 drives (IDE I guess?)

When I run the BSD bootloader, it does not recognize my 200gb IDE drive. I've also tried it with ACPI off, to no avail. none of the drives have any jumpers in. What do I need to do?

did livecd recognized your IDE HDD?
Did you build custom kernel?

if you have custom kernel
do you have
device atadisk

I haven't tested it using a live CD (only install disks). The .iso images are strait off the site. Should I be using a custom kernel?

all cds, run same kernel.
if you haven't build custom kernel... then.... (and i see you haven't), then one possibility less.

can you run livefs cd and pase your dmesg output here

This motherboard uses a seperate Marvell 88SE6121 ata controller.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to go with Gentoo actually. Linux seems to be more hardware friendly. I may try to triple-boot, and I'll keep the ATA controller in mind. Thanks again!

Does this patch works with 7.1 RELEASE too or is there another patch ?
Will it be integrated in the p1 or later OS update ?

It was MFC'ed to RELENG_7 a few days ago, so it will be in 7.2-RELEASE. The only patches that p* releases get are to fix security issues. You could apply the patch to 7.1-RELEASE yourself if you want, or you could use 7-STABLE. See this PR: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr....29154&cat=kern

Ok, done and it works for my DVD reader. Now all works with my P5Q using 7.1 + patch. With 7.0 I had no lan and no IDE.
