k3b and k9copy do not recognize my DVD-RW device
Hey guys,
I installed k3b and k9copy via ports. Neither k3b nor k9copy recognize my DVD-RW device. This is the message from k3b: Code:
No CD/DVD writer found. K3b did not find an optical writing device in your system. Thus, you will not be able to burn CDs or DVDs. However, you can still use other K3b features like audio track extraction or audio transcoding or ISO9660 image creation. Code:
DVD is not opened I just want tot mention that I can play DVDs just fine using MPlayer. Thank you in advance, Corneliu |

Thank you mfaridi,
I checked the link and the dicussion there was about hal. I dont't think my issue is related to hal. Anyway hal seems to be OK. Code:
$ find `kde-config --prefix`/lib/kde3/media_propsdlgplugin.so && echo "HAL is enabled." /usr/local/lib/kde3/media_propsdlgplugin.so HAL is enabled. $ |

Use these links
http://networking.ringofsaturn.com/U...SD-Burning.php http://www.math.colostate.edu/~reinh...sd/kernel.html Did you add these lines Code:
perm xpt0 0666 perm pass0 0666 perm pass1 0666 Code:
/etc/devfs.conf |
|
|||
Thank you mfaridi,
I took a look at those links, I think that compiling the kernel should be the last resort considering my freebsd experience. I added perm xpt0 0666 perm pass0 0666 perm pass1 0666 to /etc/devfs.conf but still k3b and k9copy do not recognize my CD/DVD device |

Do you have atapicam kernel module loaded?
Code:
kldload atapicam Code:
atapicam_load="YES" Did you restart devfs? Code:
/etc/rc.d/devfs restart Last edited by erno; 25th May 2008 at 07:56 AM. |
