Default NetBSD 9.3 External Monitor Panic

I have NetBSD 9.3 on a Thinkpad T420, uname:

Quote:
NetBSD neutron 9.3 NetBSD 9.3 (GENERIC) #0: Thu Aug 4 15:30:37 UTC 2022 mkrepro@mkrepro.NetBSD.org:/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC amd64
The issue is when I use an external monitor, after a few minutes I get a kernel panic. On other UN*X type OSs no issues.

When not using a monitor all works great. Does anyone know how to fix ?

I tried many options over the past few days, but no luck. I ran across this wiki.netbsd.org but it is a bit beyond my skill level, but will give it a try if no one has any ideas on what to do.

Here are links to various info/logs for the issue:
Please let me know if you need anything else,
Thanks
John

If you get a panic, it could be a bug with your specific model in any involved driver.
File a bug report obtaining a kernel dump and a backtrace as shown in the wiki.
At the same time, you could write on netbsd-users mailing list, linking to your PR.

Before that you may also:
  • get a HEAD or 10.0_BETA kernel to verify that the issue hasn't been solved in the meantime already (NetBSD-9 is very old at this point).
  • search the GNATS database for a similar issue, using keywords
Regards

Thanks, I have been resisting going to 10-BETA only because I am not sure how pkgsrc will work with it.

But I checked and I see there is a 10.0 pkgsrc repository, so I will go to 10 beta. Will be a good test to see if the issue is fixed

Default SOLVED: upgraded to 10.0 BETA

I ended upgrading to NetBSD 10.0 BETA, issues is solved. Plus the BETA seems very stable.

Thanks for the suggestion.
