If you look at the main ordering page it is dated to be released in April. (although I thought it was May)

For some European countries, Amazon UK will not charge shipping costs if your order for at least 25 UK pounds. See http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/cust...deId=200039400
You can also pre-order from Amazon Germany:http://www.amazon.de/Absolute-OpenBS...1182648&sr=1-1 Amazon Germany also offers free shipping (versandkostenfrei) for some European countries. See http://www.amazon.de/gp/help/custome...deId=200170100

Unfortunately, I can't do anything with overseas shipping costs. Generally, once the book physically exists, local retailers will offer a better price.
Last I heard, the OpenBSD folks intend to carry the book. You can buy a copy with your release CD, save on shipping that way. Would I like people to buy with the coupon? Sure. But I'd also like a winged pony. Buy it where it makes sense for you to buy it. |

I personally own the first edition of this book - and even so i will absolutely buy the second and any subsequent edition as well. This book is what pushed me really into OpenBSD. It's a great read, very informative, and even funny. Have not regretted buying it ever. Hello? I actually read it more than once too. I also liked the font - it nice and easy on the eyes. This book i read when i visited my wife's hometown for the first time, in the midst of a snow catastrophe i remember clearly. Much nicer to hold an actual book in your hand that kind of follows some sort of structure than to spend relaxation time researching ./man command

I received notice from No Starch Press stating that print copies of Absolute OpenBSD, 2nd edition will be shipped beginning the week of 22 April, & for those who ordered with Michael's magic coupon, the PDF version is available for download now.
I just downloaded my copy of the PDF, & this appears to be a very worthy update to the first edition! Congratulations & thanks both to Michael for his time, effort, & consideration of the OpenBSD community! Both veterans and newcomers to OpenBSD should seriously consider getting a copy! Note that Absolute OpenBSD, 2nd edition can also be ordered from the project's Website: http://www.openbsd.org/books.html#book10 However, note that purchasing there does not include the PDF version (as I understand...). ![]() Last edited by ocicat; 11th April 2013 at 12:04 AM. Yes, I find it to be an excellent overview of OpenBSD in its current incarnation; a handy reference and guide to the current version … and I do have the 1st edition as well, which was a handy reference when I first started using OpenBSD over a decade ago.

There is a typo on page 1 in the first sentence:

Ah, dammit!
I'm going to go throw myself under a bridge in shame. Or off a bus. Whichever. |

That is a bit funny, being in the first sentence and all
![]() But I'd totally argue that its just a lack of space, instead of a typo! |

Ordered this book last week. Excellent Read. It really complements the FAQ on the site when read in combination. I'm already feeling comfortable using OpenBSD already thanks to the free documentation, and this book.
