I'm running 8.1-release on my laptop, using KDE4 as my wm. I have CUPS set up with one network printer that works fine from konqueror or any other KDE application. However, neither Firefox nor Thunderbird recognize the printer. Those two applications both only give me the option of printing to file.
I read one suggestion in a Linux forum of building the latest Thunderbird from source, which I just did (3.0.6). This did not solve the problem. Previous to building this I also installed print/kdeutils4-printer-applet but that didn't make any difference either. I have cupsd set to start on boot and it works fine from everything but firefox or thunderbird. Any ideas? |

Not recognizing the printers when you go to print? Firefox and Thunderbird have a configuration preference to select various printers.

I rebuilt gtk20 and kdelibs4 (the second was a first guess before gtk20 was suggested). Now printers are showing up properly.
