The x86 one works like a charm. And I've read on the mailing list that with a few small changes, the x11/nvidia-driver can install both arch versions perfectly.

Keep in mind I didn't do it this way. I just removed the nvidia-driver package and ran make install in the NVIDIA folder.

I think the driver is the only binary package I've installed on this machine. I even build OOo, as much fun as that was :P.

sad that all we have is binary, but it's better than nothing :P

Till nouveau project will get mature its all we got (at least nVidia users), I would just not buy nVidia graphics to not have that problem, simple solutions are best.

i tried it on a brand new laptop a couple of days ago. installed and worked fine in the beginning. But when i tried shutdown it always resulted in kernel panic. Tried again by disabling smp, worked fine for a longer time, but then there were occasional X hangups and kernel panics.

Since i wanted to get this machine up and running very quickly, decided to do away with amd64 and threw i386, and it works without any issues. Once my work is done by the end of this month, i will retry the driver again and do a proper investigation.

The kernel panic situation is a prominent bug report as far as the driver is concerned it seems, as seen on nv forums. Anyone else experiencing similar issues? Mine is a G105m by the way.
