Does anyone know whom to contact when a package is faulty/ broken?

If the problem is in the base system follow the advice here.

For third-party packages, which are built from ports, the port maintainer's contact information is included in the output of $ pkg_info <package_name>. If there is no maintainer of record, pkg_info(1) will direct you to the ports@ mailing list.
