install flash from ports, not from adobe's website
it failed... so far every package i tried getting from the package manager has failed.
What's the error?
it goes something like
initializing...... . . . error accessing http://ftp.freebsd.com/blahblahblah/package.extension ..accessing file package name.extension error accessing http://ftp.freebsd.com/blahblahblah/package.extension and it repeats like this error a couple times then stops trying. i think the problem is it cant access the file on the host. it cant retrieve it. if i must i can take a picture |
well, what is the "blah blah blah" ?
You're probably using the wrong PKG_PATH |

The "gpl standalone player" is not Flash. Sounds like gnash to me, and that is very different.
wow dude, you wanna WRITE it next time instead of posting those huge images!
so that flash player isnt what i want.?
No. You want:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/url.cgi?p...gin7/pkg-descr and nspluginwrapper (part of the acroread port): http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/url.cgi?p...pper/pkg-descr |
yea im still getting those errors, and i went to it manually and im getthing this
ftp://packageftp.desktopbsd.net/pub/...lashplugin.tbz |
Use FreeBSD ports. I've had some errors with Flash in the past, but that is the canonical source.
Perhaps you should read up on how to use the ports and packages system in the freebsd manual.
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO...ook/ports.html Perhaps also read this: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO...-browsers.html |
reading that wont bring the package back. all 4 package folders on the FTP server have no flashplayer packages. packages 7 and 6 dont have it in there. it was erased or moved or renamed.
NO, I doubt that you will find the flash player as a package anywhere. Adobe would specifically disallow repackaging their player. Their license also specifically disallows running it on an unsupported OS, but we have an email saying to (basically) ignore their license and go ahead.
You will have to install it from the ports collection. That means that you will not be getting it from any ftp server anywhere. cd /usr/ports/www/linux-flashplugin7 && make install clean
