There are a few tutorials related to installing/running Internet Explorer in Wine, but I doubt any of them will be helpful in this situation.

The version of wine in the ports tree is "very" outdated, portability problems in later versions have pretty much slowed any progress toward an updated version.

Now, the real question is... Why on earth do you want to run Internet Explorer on OpenBSD? is there something you require that's not supported in Firefox?

The wine for OpenBSD is from 1999. I have never been able to get it to do more than run sol.exe from Windows 3.1 and Win95. I doubt you will be able to get it to run IE from any version of Windows, no matter how much help you are able to obtain.

I think there is a work in progress to port wine 1.0 to openbsd

check this post (where there is the port attached)
http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-ports&m=121224992214109&w=2
and following discussion:
http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-ports&w=2&r=1&s=wine&q=b

I used it, some apps worked, some not.
have luck

If this is your only machine, you may want to consider dual-booting with Windows in order to execute Internet Explorer. As others have already stated, Wine as currently available is most likely unable to allow you to run this specific browser on OpenBSD.

You can also try running wine in qemu, see emulators/qemu and emulators/kqemu.
