Java online tutorial

At school, we are required to do projects in the next few weeks in Java. Can you recommend me a good online tutorial (or book) that I can have a look? Thanks

One of the reasons Java captured such marketshare so quickly is because Sun made a great deal of documentations (including books & tutorials...) freely available to the development community. You should browse their offerings at the following:

Following in a similar form, Bruce Eckel took a novel approach as a book author by making his book available online before having it published. When I have taught Java, people have liked his book, however I personally found it a bit wordy. More information on it can be found at the following:

Although the book can now be purchased, it is still freely available online.

For books, Java in a nutshell from O'Reilly would probably be handy.

I had to learn Java during my high school computer science class. And the javadocs certainly helped us.

Javadocs is not really a tutorial, but more of a documentation (like the name says) that will describe methods, functions, classes, etc and how they can be used.
