Unicode issues with gnome-mount/HAL?
I'm running Gnome 2.22 on FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE, whenever I try to mount DVDs with Chinese characters for file names the characters become question marks. I tried mounting the disc with mount_cd9660 and that didn't have any issues.
I haven't tried other desktop environments' HAL-based mounting, but I if I run gnome-mount manually the characters would still be question marks. My LANG is set to en_US.UTF-8, but it doesn't seem like there is a way to specify encoding with gnome-mount using cd9660. Does anybody else have the same issue? Am I missing some settings somewhere? |

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean.
If I mount the disk manually with, say Code:
mount_cd9660 /dev/cd0 ~/cdrom It's only when mounting via gnome-mount that I have issues. Not sure where a wildcard would come in in this case... |

Seems that I was mistaken, that disc contained both UDF and ISO9660, which was why it had no problems being mounted with mount_cd9660.
That said, the unicode problem is with UDF. |
