Daemonforums very slow, times out a lot

So since I have switched to the new site, daemon forums, I have been having lots of connection problems. About half of my requests time out, and when they don't, they tend to come through very very slowly (+15 secs).

I am located in Eastern Europe on a 4Mb/1Mb that is otherwise pretty reliable.

Oh yeah and I think the forum colors are kinda...dull! But that's only a superficial issue

I noticed this a few nights ago, but it seemed to be a one time thing. It's been fine for me since then.

This site does tend to go at a snails place often here, sometimes it's responsive.. other times it gets stuck in a "connection reset" loop.

Personally, I'm finding it annoying... even though bsdforums is a spam haven, it sure was speedy.

Surely Im far from a rich guy but I dont mind donating some money for better bandwidth, disk space or speed

It's most likely a problem with your location on the 'Net, and the route your packets take. For instance, I've never had any issues with accessing daemon forums, and my route is nothing like yours:

Thanks for letting us know about this. I have never had any speed or access issues with DaemonForums, but we should fix this problem that others are having.

We do not need money. We need ideas. Have any server suggestions that you think would work great?

Also, we are working on using PHP 5 and MySQL 5 rather than their more outdated versions, and that should make some speed boosts.

Maybe, but then why do I only have it for this site? :/ I live in Eastern Europe and successfully access sites from around the world.

Apache on Linux. It would be great if we could get onto a *BSD server, considering that this is a BSD-oriented site.

Isn't Solaris technically a BSD? (Even if an evil cousin?).

Anyway, OpenBSD.org appears to be running.. OpenBSD, I believe only a few mirrors may be evil doers.

No, some SunOS versions were based on 4BSD, but Solaris is based on SystemV.

As people hopefully realize from my comments in the Linux thread, that wasn't a putdown of OBSD. I highly agree with the way they phrase their answer in the FAQ.

Although none of the developers think it is particularly relevant, this question comes up frequently enough in the mailing lists that it is answered here.

Which I tend to take as a diplomatic way of saying, Sheesh, people, get a life.
