setting up a proxy server in OpenBSD 4.3
Good day guys...
First of all I'm not expert either in Linux or Unix but I'm curious how things done in this platform so I setup a proxy server in my newly installed OpenBSD 4.3 here is some info in my box: hostname.rl0: IP: 124.6.155.51 broadcast: 124.6.155.63 gateway: 124.6.155.49 hostname.rl0: IP: 172.16.1.12 broadcast: 172.16.1.255 edited 2 lines at squid.conf acl our_networks src 172.16.1.0/24 http_access allow our_networks NOTE: no pf enabled edited 2 lines in sysctl.conf net.inet.ip.forwardin=1 vm.swapencrypt.enable=1 If I try to change one of the client pc gateways ip address as 172.16.1.12 and the DNS into "124.6.155.51", I get an error message "The Connection has timed out" .. In a client PC if I try to ping 124.6.155.51 I received an answer but when I ping 172.16.1.12 I get "REQUEST TIMED OUT". Any idea or suggestions that can help me is very much highly appreciated.. |

No PF?
I strongly recommend reading more on the subject and carefully following a known-good example configuration.
I recall that you need to enable 'pf' and add RDR rules if you want to use Squid as a 'transparent' proxy. You can use Squid as an 'explicit' proxy (by putting proxy settings in the browser, or using WPAD), with or without enabling pf and ip forwarding. BTW, looks like a typo, the line in sysctl.conf should be "net.inet.ip.forwarding=1" |
