The French equivalent of the US Secret Service may have been letting their guard down, as an investigation showed they are easily trackable via the fitness app Strava.

An investigation by Le Monde has shown that members of the Security Group for the Presidency of the Republic (GSPR) have been openly displaying their location on the popular software during their workout sessions. Since they travel with President Emmanuel Macron, this makes it fairly easy to work out his location. A dozen of his bodyguards were leaking key information this way.

in addition, lot of others bodyguards, privates or public sector, have the same usuals. Eg benalla, ex bodyguard of macron, was using tinder, guess what happens : the same newspaper (le monde) yelled at scandal, possible to track the president using his bodyguard.. but everyone knows that even knowing position of a president, approaching him/her is very complicated, even when he wants to discuss with common people.

Where it has been more serious, is when it was the same thing, for secret agents of army running top secret operation over the world (eg in oriental countries), and even here, no one was in danger : only geeks and nerds looks (and have mind/clever/patiency to) after those information, as it's require time and the idea to. It's just some journalists wanting to get know much more by their colleagues or competitors newspapers. Always been like that.
