Hi,
I'd like to install a wiki from ports, but so far, I'm having a hell of a time. I'd like not to use a database because MySQL, for example, gives me a headache with its /tmp/mysql.sock error messages and so on. Dokuwiki: too many dependencies! Moinmoin: simple, but I'd prefer to use PHP since I've got Apache running. Other recommendations, suggestions, links to tutorials? |

I personally prefer MediaWiki, but that's just me...
On dependencies, you might consider TWiki - Perl based but itt can use rcs instead of things like MySQL ;-). Most of its run depends are (fairly common) Perl modules.

I use pmwiki, after a long long search.
it's php only. http://www.pmwiki.org/ no sql dependencies or such like. it works on BSD 386 linux windows, though it seems not to work on my new AMD64 box. (I get blank pages, am investigating) There is even a simple windows server, so you can put it on a stick and carry it around with you. which is nifty e.g. for work. |

DokuWiki, one of the best :-)
http://www.dokuwiki.org/dokuwiki And if you want to see it in action, have a look at the many different users: http://www.dokuwiki.org/users [edit] Ah I see DokuWiki is a no-go for you ....

moin.
http://moinmo.in/ Easy install, no database, running it is a simple command: http://moinmo.in/DesktopEdition Gearing up for more users: http://moinmo.in/HelpOnInstalling#Hi...ce_public_wiki An example of a moin wiki is Python's own wiki: http://wiki.python.org/moin/ |
