I am considering installing FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE on my laptop. I was previously dual-booting WinXP and Kubuntu Linux but the "upgrade" to 9.04 trashed the system.
The only thing holding me back on FreeBSD is Flash; my wife might well kill me if it doesn't work on my system. What is the state of Flash in the newest FreeBSD? This is an i386 system (P4m), so 64bit anything does not apply here. It would be preferable to get Flash 10 working, but an earlier version might be "good enough". |

Flash 10 will work in WINE for sure, using Linux Binary Compatibility you can get Flash 9 at most if I recall corectly.

pkg_add -r seamonkey
pkg_add -r gnash .......... Should work for youtube at least. (No linux compat nor emulator necc.) Not sure if a few CLI setup additionally necc.

You probably won't like to hear this, but I find clive/cclive
or youtube-dl is a much better solution for flv viewing at the slight cost of manual intervention. |

As for viewing FLVs, I use mplayer with the GNOME frontend. It has a very minimal, non-skinned, interface, and even though it's a GTK application, it doesn't need half of GNOME as dependencies.

I have www/firefox35 and www/linux-f8-flashplugin10 working quite well on RELENG_7 (i.e. 7-STABLE), complete with audio. YouTube and Hulu works quite well, unless you are compiling ports at the same time... lol.

If previous versions of flash are okay with you, I have flash 9 running flawlessly.
