I've been trying to get k3b to work, it keeps stating that it can't find any drives -

I've compiled in atapicam support, including the UDF option.
I've also edited rc.conf and devfs.conf

Still no joy...

I updated the required files.

Still no drives showing up.

So, I've opened up k3b using sudo and now the drives are recognised. This has led me to review the install notes, which mention this stuff (doh).

However, now I'm getting into the territory of having disc mount icons appear on the KDE desktop, which I don't know that I want...

You may also want to look at the k3b guide in the Guides forum if you want to use k3b without sudo.

Open the KDE Control Center. Click on Desktop --> Behavior, then click the Device Icons tab. You can uncheck the devices you don't want to appear on the desktop.
