Default hp/asus notebooks : going very hot, dont know why.

hello

unfortunately since a week I was wondering about something :
on two old hp elitebook, it looks like under win7 and linux/LMDE, that at a general glance everything looks correct
but on openbsd, something happens, even if CPU is not high : it's a huge overheating, with fans going almost everytime in the high speed, and lower case of the laptop, almost burning (in a way it's really warm, impossible to get it a minute on laps)

I saw the same problem on an asus laptop.

is there anyway to know where it come from?
under win7 and linux, this problem doesnt happens. It's really strange.

thak you for ideas

The Lenovo laptops play well with OpenBSD in case you get a chance to obtain one.

Consider installing sysutils/obsdfreqd. Designed by OpenBSD developer solene@, this tool provides the admin with a variety of CPU performance knobs, including the ability to set a maximum temperature.

My Thinkpad T420 was running hot, I cleaned it and had new paste added to the CPU. Since then it has been running very cool.

Plus as jggimi suggested, I use obsdfreqd. For what it is worth I use these setting in /etc/rc.conf.local

Code:
obsdfreqd_flags=-T 73,65
apmd_flags=-L -Z 5
remember to use rcctl(8) to set the flags

How old is the laptop ?

On the T420, obsdfreqd helped a bit but after getting a full cleaning with new paste, the CPU Temp settled down.

I had someone do the paste since I know I would mess something up if I tried
