My guess is whenever it is ready :-)

I really wish I had the time and energy to run the bleeding edge...

Is there any particular reason you need 7.1?

I'm using 7.0 in production (admittedly I'm not a large "enterprise") with no problems whatsoever.

No I'm just allergic to point zero releases. Which reminds me, does anyone know when Die Hard 4.1 is out?

Default Living dangerously

I am currently running FreeBSD 8.0-Current on my laptop as it has support for my WiFi card and it is the only version of FreeBSD that works with my VIA network card (Previous versions refused to work at all).

It also works very nicely, considering it is bleeding edge. It is fast, and has yet to kernel panic on me (Although, running current, I am expecting this sometime soon).

These features will be appearing in 7.1, so I'm hoping for a stable reason sometime soon.

FreeBSD, in my mind, has come a long way since 5.0 in terms of "point zero" releases.

I know the feeling, I usually operate on 2 weeks, X.1, or X.0.Y releases + 2-4 weeks or which ever comes first. Before I'll even consider upgrades that don't have good reasons behind them (e.g. relevant security fixes).

But the BSDs are one group of software that I trust not to fsck me on a release ;-)

In the mean time, I laugh at a popular pc game that had several patches so soon, it may as well have had patches coming out before the disks hit the store shelves >_>
